NKB Media Supports the Panchahuli Women Weavers.
Panchachuli Women Weavers was born in 1998 as a result of the dream of a handful of village women from the region of Almora in the Kumaon Himalayan Mountains of Uttaranchal the famous area known as the abode of Lord Krishna. This dream of a better life, to bring social and economic empowerment for women and their families was necessary to break free of the shackles of servitude and toil that kept them in poverty. A dream, shared by Dena Kaye, daughter of the legendary Danny Kaye, was made possible through Dena’s wholehearted generosity and love. The Panchachuli Women Weavers Co-op also supports the only modern hospital in Almora as well as a leper colony in Almora where the natural plant dyes are made.
Today Panchachuli is a strong and self-reliant family of over 1000 women, professional in weaving and its related skills. Our goal is to have 2000 women trained in our two year training program thus affording poor and under-privileged women the opportunity of leading meaningful and dignified lives. We have three major production centers and our marketing network includes domestic buyers and an expanding circle of friends and clients from across the globe.
